THE FOLKS BACK HOME WON’T BELIEVE THIS: Back when it wasn’t uncommon to hear that the Tigers won a game, it was because of people like Willie Horton, on the left, and Jim Price, sandwiching that fellow in the center … what’s his name again … Oh yes, Dr. Paul Ehrmann of Royal Oak’s Family Health Care Center. And don’t kid yourself - you’d be looking like a kid yourself if you got to meet and greet the guys who made the Tigers a team with which to contend, rather than laugh off and take office bets on how much worse they can get.
GEEZ: Tom Brookens, with moustache, is going to be able to go home and tell his family he met the infamous Dr. Paul Ehrmann at Tiger Fantasy Camp. Or do we have that turned around? No matter. Dr. Ehrmann also met Howard Johnson (with beard, for those too young to remember him as anything but an exit ramp ice cream parlor). How is Paul’s team doing, you say? You say, how are they doing? Well, Paul would rather not say, but honesty and a threat to kneecap him if he didn’t keep us up on the stats say Paul’s team “isn’t looking so good for the home team. We lost twice, but the good news is Willie Horton, Bruce Fields, Howard Johnson and Milt Wilcox arrived at camp Wednesday and Alan Trammel is still expected. The best news is that we’re having a good time. Individual stats? Gave up some runs today, not telling how many, but most were unearned. I got 4 hits, 3 singles and a double. My legs feel like tree stumps. We have tonight off but Saturday night, if I can still walk, we’re playing against the 1984 Tigers.”
