New Treatments for Osteoarthritis Osteoarthitis is one of the most common disorders affecting the Senior population, particularly of the knee joints. There are many traditional and nontraditional ways to treat this disorder successfully, however for those patients that do not respond to these treatments, often the options are limited to surgical joint replacement. Some patients may not be a candidate due to ongoing medical problems or may be on anticoagulants that may place them at high intra-operative and post-operative risk for development of other untoward medical complications. For the many patients in this category there is now an alternative. Within the last couple of years, there have been new options for patients to successfully treat this disabling knee joint disorder without surgery. Dr. Paul Ehrmann has been doing this procedure for over two years now with very good short and long term results utilizing a noncortisone artificial lubricating and anti-inflammatory fluid that is injected in the knee joints. This injection is part of a three part series over a six week period and most insurances will cover these injection. To read about one patient's real-life experience, click here.
